Building Environmental Credibility
The CAlSiFrit process first presented in 2001 by the Advantage publication, is making important inroads in the recycling industry due not only on its ability to properly handle the toxic, corrosive and reactive waste that represents the spent pot liner from aluminium smelting operations , but also due to the recycling of it into real value added non-toxic commercial material.
Partnership has been reached in January 2005 between NovaFrit International (Nova Pb), Alcoa Primary Metals and Aluminerie Alouette to recycle SPL from their Canadian operations into an Alternative Supplementary Cementitious Material (ASCM) destined to St Lawrence Cement. This multi-year partnership has been signalled by many news or technical publications such as: Canada Newswire , NetMetal , WBSCD, Solid Waste or Daily News
CAlSiFrit™:
Building Sustainability
Applications for the new ASCM are numerous as reported by many green organisations such as EcoSmart™ Concrete . Making proper use of the CAlSiFrit™ ensures more durable concrete structures showing lower permeability and therefore more resistance to attacks by salt ions.
